- Choose your floor coverings carefully, as they form the base of the fit out. Use hard wearing products in high traffic areas. Use carpets in large open plan areas to absorb noise. Consider carpet tiles rather than broadloom carpet for easy maintenance in the future. Lastly, avoid using multiple floor covering finishes in small areas to create an illusion of larger spaces.
- Maximise natural light, by using glass rather than solid partitioning, and remove interior walls where possible. Natural light will help your staff feel more refreshed and enthused and create a positive mood in your office. Also consider additional skylights in internal spaces where natural light from windows may not reach.
- Provide a range of spaces suited to the various activities your staff will undertake. If you have the available area incorporate some different size meeting rooms, breakout areas and informal catch up spaces, as well as the formal workstation areas. Provide easy access from the working areas to the bathrooms and lunchroom areas so staff can stay refreshed and on top of their game. If the workstation area is remote from the lunch room you could include a small hydration station closer to the working areas minimise downtime for your staff when they need a top up of water or caffeine!
